Paris 14 May
First full day in Paris, set off in the morning by walking to the local Metro station (about 10 minutes) then caught the train into central Paris. After a bit of a wander round we went to the Louvre and spent many hours there along with the large number of visitors. We of course saw the Mona Lisa and many other wellknown paintings, but also there is a huge amount of artefacts from ancient Egypt which were fascinating. We probably only scratched the surface by the time we left to head for Notre Dame cathedral. Had to queue for a while to get in and while it is impressive it is not as magnificent of some others we have already seen on our trip to date. We then made our way home and bought baguettes, ham and creamy camembert and washed this down with wine for our meal, feeling very French. Tomorrow we will start off at the Champs Elysees and see where we go from there.
