Hello to all
We had a sleep in today and then headed off with a walk to Windermere which is only a very short walk from Bowness. Very beautiful walk delightful architecture all B&B accommodation 'no vacancies' on most places, they do have 15 million visitors a year, there are also 8 million dogs living in the UK and they all come to Bowness and Windermere with their owners, Sam and I have not ever seen as many dogs in our lives but of course that is because dogs are allowed in all accommadation no matter how lavish, all hotels, public transport, cruises on the lakes etc. if they are small enough they can travel on the seat beside their owners in flight. High time we did the same. We had a lovely lunch in a place called 'The Lighthouse' then wandered home. Later in the afternoon we took the ferry (run by the Council) across Lake Windermere (it is the boat ferry) and went over to have a look at a place known as Claife's Station, it actually looks like a mini castle built in about 1778 and apparently it had the most beautiful windows onto the most beautiful views of the lake, the had parties there etc, very lavish by the sounds of it,it is only a shell now of course but you can see what it would have been like. We caught the ferry back had a lovely bottle of wine and an antipasto plate for dinner. See you Sam and Sabine
