Hello to all
We left Callander this morning. It was a lovely place and our B&B was perfectly lovely indeed our hosts Sue and Crawford were fabulous hosts and do an amazing job of running their small hotel call The Lubnaig.
We were heading for Oban but on our way we went to Inveraray Castle which is first and foremost a family home. The 12th Earl of Argyll lives there with his wife who was Eleanor Cadbury and their 3 young children. Half of the castle is for the public to enjoy and they use the other half. It is a true fairytale castle, the gardens etc very lovely indeed. It has an amazing history, the first castle was built there by Colin Campbell in the mid 1500s fell into disrepair and then rebuilt in the mid 1700s, it has not ever been attacked so it is all still in its glory. You can actually see where the first castle was built. It is quite amazing this has been kept for the future generations to see, all of these places do a fantastic job because the cost must be unbelievable. The entrance fees they charge would not even go close to the upkeep
We arrived in Oban a beautiful seaside place at sabout 3.30. Our B&B is lovely, very high up built into the cliff and our room faces the town so we have the most stunning view. We can enjoy it for a while because it does not get dark until about 11.30 and then light again by 4.30 in the morning.
We headed into the town, just a walk and then came and answered our emails etc and then went back for dinner to a lovely place at the bottom of the hill, Sam heard a pipe band on our way back so he wandered off to see that and I wandered back to the B&B. Lovely place very fortunate indeed.
We head off to Skye tomorrow for two days. All the best Sam & Sabine
