Dublin to Kilkenny 20th June 2011

Hello to all. We are still unable to receive or send emails trying to get it rectified but who knows.
We left Dublin this morning reasonably early, I did like Dublin, one of those places you would return to. Nothing is very far in Ireland. We bought ourselves a Tom Tom for Ireland and the UK so that along with a map we are finding our way around OK. Sam did a great job finding our way from Belfast airport to our hotel in Dublin.
We came here today via Glendalough, meaning the valley of the two lakes and is renowned for its Early Medieval monastic settlement founded by St Kevin in the 6th century. It is amazing how some of the buildings built 1000 years ago are still partly standing. Parts have been restored using the stone on the site but the graveyard is still visible, there were laypeople buried there as well and anyone related to the people buried there is still entitled to be buried there today. The bell tower is still in perfect shape only having had the conical roof rebuilt in 1876 using original stone. How very fortunate we are to have something so incredible there for us to see today. After this we had a bit of lunch at the hotel there and continued on our journey to Kilkenny. We arrived at about 5.00 settled into our hotel went out had some dinner etc and we will head out in the morning to see the castle which is very close to us. I bought a beautiful long cardigan from a very lovely girl and she is going to ship it for me Sam thought that was pretty good going to find something you loved 10 mins after arriving in town.
We will have brekky early, go to the castle and then head off to Waterford and then on to Cork where we will stay tomorrow eve.
It would have been my Dad's 94 birthday today.
Hope all is well, and hopefully we will have our email back soon. All the best Sam and Sabine
